Akomplice obviously will read this

Written by Kerry on June 29th, 2009

Years ago I designed a stencil of the Statue of Liberty holding a gun, turned it into a t-shirt and Proletariat began. Many people “borrowed” the design, and one started their own brand based on it. This “brand” is called Akomplice. They are one of those filler brands found in all the cookie cutter streetwear spots ready to jump on the next big trend…once I set it of course. I found out through the grapevine that these guys keep close tabs on my designs and once again they have reared their ugly heads. Thanks to my boy Mayan Tamang for pointing this one out.
Here’s my shirt ACT YOUR RAGE printed in November of 2007 and still currently for sale.

And here is Akomplice’s newest design…

Skript & Greg St. Peter @ the Good Life

Written by Kerry on June 26th, 2009

It’s about time people start paying attention to these two young artists. Why, because their work is dope and since they still are unknown you can pick up a piece for cheap. But not for long. I know there is never a “good time” to buy art. Well, I take it back, a lot of art was sold during the dotcom boom, but a lot of everything was sold then. Anyways, I have never regretted picking up a piece of art even though I have had to talk myself into the purchase every single time. So what if you have to eat ramen for the rest of the month? You’ll get something nice to look at while shaving off the pounds. Anyways, let me introduce you to these two fine artists.
First up is Skript. Schooled and trained in architecture Skript uses precise line-work and stencils to create his images. And just like Greg many of his pieces depict beautiful women. Here we have a stenciled Scarlett Johansson, split between two hand sanded & stained skate decks. This would look great on your ceiling.

The King of Pop is dead

Written by Kerry on June 25th, 2009

Michael Jackson was found dead today in his Los Angeles home. His heart was already stopped before paramedics arrived. R.I.P. MJ. Man, Michael Jackson was the epitome of Celebrity. Before all the nose jobs, the weird pets, Neverland ranch, the molestations, bankruptcy, he was just a kid—killing it in the music biz. He was also the first record I ever bought, and I remember my parents waking me up really late one night after I had been to bed so I could see his Thriller video which was debuting before the Tonight Show. Here’s some of the good shit:
